Job Summary
Senior Director of Narrative Power and Policy Strategy leads an integrated strategy across communications, marketing, narrative change, community organizing, advocacy, and policy influence for Pillsbury United Communities. The role serves as a senior leader, shaping organizational messaging, elevating community voices, guiding policy agendas, and expanding local and national visibility. Responsibilities include overseeing marketing and branding across digital and print platforms, leading narrative campaigns that connect storytelling with organizing and policy action, managing a cross-functional team, fostering relationships with community members and elected officials, and driving measurable outcomes in audience engagement, narrative impact, and funding opportunities. The candidate should bring extensive leadership experience in communications/advocacy, expertise in narrative change and policy advocacy, a deep commitment to racial equity, strong storytelling and strategic thinking abilities, and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in communications, marketing, organizing, advocacy, public affairs, or related fields
- Demonstrated success in marketing strategy development and implementation, brand leadership, and audience growth
- Proven experience in narrative change, community engagement, and/or policy advocacy
- Deep commitment to racial equity, justice, and community-centered practice
- Strong understanding of government systems and experience building relationships with elected officials and public sector leaders
- Exceptional communicator and storyteller with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage across functions, and operate in a collaborative, complex environment
- Skilled relationship-builder with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including those with differing perspectives
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes
- Experience managing budgets and aligning financial resources with strategy
- High level of emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and adaptability
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Proven track record and comfort enfranchising and engaging a diverse set of stakeholders
- Able to build positive, nonjudgmental relationships with community
- Strong technical and creative writing skills
- Understanding of appropriate personal boundaries and professional ethics
- Self-motivating with excellent time management and accountability skills
