Job Summary
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Directors. Lead long-range financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management while overseeing accounting, payroll, treasury, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards, prepare meaningful reports for informed decision-making, and evaluate the financial impact of new programs and capital projects. Partner with Development leadership to support fundraising initiatives and build a high-performing finance team. This executive role guides strategic decisions at Yakima Union Gospel Mission to ensure long-term sustainability and faithful stewardship of resources supporting shelter, recovery, healthcare, and meals for those experiencing homelessness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Seven or more years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash management, and strategic planning
- Experience advising executive leaders, senior leadership teams, or boards of directors
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business decisions
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or MBA
- Executive financial leadership experience within a nonprofit organization
- Experience with donor-restricted funds, grants, and nonprofit fund accounting
- Experience supporting organizational growth, capital projects, or significant organizational change
- Candidates currently serving as a Director of Finance, Assistant CFO, Vice President of Finance, Controller with executive leadership responsibilities, or similar financial leadership roles
