Job Summary
Senior Director of Engineering to lead and scale DigitalOcean's Storage Products engineering org in India. Own multi-year engineering strategy and roadmap for Storage Products in India, leading multiple teams across Object, Block, File Storage, Backups, and Snapshot services, storage infrastructure, and platform engineering. Partner with VP/C-suite stakeholders to translate business priorities into executable technical plans; drive headcount planning and talent strategy; establish engineering standards, incident management, reliability, and service health. Drive platform scalability, durability, availability, and performance; optimize storage economics and datacenter expansion with infrastructure teams. Recruit, retain, and develop senior engineering talent; represent India engineering in global leadership forums; deliver GA launches with risk mitigation. Qualifications emphasize a CS/engineering degree, 15+ years in software engineering, 6+ years in leadership roles, and deep storage/distributed systems expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of software engineering experience
- 6+ years in senior engineering leadership or management roles (managing managers)
- Demonstrated track record of building and scaling engineering organizations (50+ engineers)
- Deep expertise in distributed storage systems (object, block, file)
- Experience influencing senior cross-functional stakeholders
- 8+ years of experience building storage, infrastructure, cloud platform, or data management products
- Knowledge of storage performance optimization, capacity management, observability, and operational excellence
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence
- Ability to operate across time zones in a globally distributed company
