Job Summary
Lead Conga's product development, intellectual property portfolio, global data privacy, and AI governance initiatives by partnering with product, engineering, and design teams to ensure offerings are compliant and protected. Directly influence product strategy, safeguard IP, and lead the global privacy program to maintain trust and reduce risk while navigating evolving laws. Manage outside counsel and legal budgets to drive efficient operations, translate legal requirements into actionable business strategies, and deliver training on complex topics. This role is central to Conga's ability to innovate responsibly and scale globally, with a base salary range of $209,780–$356,630 USD. Located in Boston, MA, or Houston, TX, the position reports to the SVP, General Counsel.
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of legal experience
- Significant time as in-house counsel at a SaaS or technology company
- Strong foundation in product counseling
- Strong foundation in intellectual property
- Strong foundation in global privacy law
- Ability to apply expertise in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment
- Admitted to practice law
- In good standing in at least one U.S. state or the District of Columbia
- Active bar membership in the jurisdiction where the position is based
- Eligibility for in-house counsel registration, if applicable
Desired Qualifications
- Experience advising product, engineering, and design teams
- Understanding of how to balance legal risk with business opportunity
- Experience reviewing product-related marketing and customer communications
- Experience acting as an internal customer of legal tech products
- Deep knowledge of intellectual property law
- Experience managing global IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
- Experience leading privacy programs that comply with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global data protection laws
- Experience drafting and negotiating data processing agreements and privacy terms
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across Security, Compliance, IT, Marketing, and HR
- Experience developing and delivering training on complex legal topics
- Ability to communicate clearly

- Experience translating legal requirements into actionable strategies that support business goals
- Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets
