Job Summary
Senior Director for Technology & Engineering Career Pathways leads Vanderbilt CAE's technology and engineering career pathway strategy, aligning milestones with recruiting timelines and employer expectations. The role develops industry partnerships, oversees experiential learning (internships, industry projects, startup experiences, and employer-sponsored programs), and coordinates advising and career preparation to strengthen student readiness for careers in software engineering, data science, AI, product management, engineering, and related fields. The position partners with the School of Engineering, data science programs, alumni, and campus stakeholders to expand partnerships with technology companies and startups, track outcomes, and continuously improve programs. Supervisory responsibility includes professional staff supporting technology and engineering career pathway initiatives, reporting to the Vice Provost for Career Advancement and Engagement. Requires Master’s degree (or equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience; advanced degree in engineering, CS, or business preferred; strong in collaboration, strategic planning, and stakeholder management.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent (education and professional experience)
- Advanced degree in related field preferred (engineering, computer science, business)
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant professional experience in technology, engineering, data science, product management, or related industries
- Experience building partnerships with employers, startups, or innovation ecosystems
- Experience advising students or managing career preparation programs
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills
- Ability to lead strategy development and oversee experiential learning initiatives
- Experience supervising professional staff
