Senior Director for Global Media Relations - University Communications and Marketing

Job Summary
Build deep relationships with national and international news outlets to drive high-impact placements and shape the university's global reputation. Design and execute comprehensive media campaigns, craft executive positioning narratives, and oversee media training for faculty and leaders. Integrate predictive analytics and AI workflows to identify breaking news cycles, personalize pitches, and accelerate narrative creation. Directly supervise the media relations team while coordinating cross-campus narratives with decentralized academic units. Manage crisis response messaging in collaboration with the president's office and reputation management leads.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
- Eight (8) years of progressive professional experience in media relations, public relations, or strategic communications in a complex and/or high-profile organizational or media environment
- Documented success in cultivating relationships and securing consistent placements with top-tier national news editors, producers, and journalists
- Five (5) years of demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to lead, upskill, and inspire diverse communication professionals

- Master's degree
- Deep familiarity with research universities or complex, highly decentralized institutional settings
- Advanced literacy in media tracking tech stacks and a forward-thinking grasp of how artificial intelligence tools can responsibly accelerate communication efforts
