Job Summary
Senior Director, Epidemiology: Leads strategy and execution of epidemiology programs across therapeutic areas, directing real world evidence generation, observational studies, literature reviews, and registries; serves as technical authority in epidemiologic methods; partners with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, and HEOR; builds and mentors high-performing teams; represents epidemiology in senior leadership and external collaborations; travels up to 10% and works in a hybrid office setting in Boston, MA. Responsible for aligning epidemiology deliverables with corporate objectives, optimizing resources, shaping SOPs, and driving scientific rigor through publications and external engagements. Proficiency in SAS/R/Python and a strong publication track record in pharmacoepidemiology are required, with deep expertise in rare disease epidemiology and familiarity with regulatory considerations across the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- PhD / DSc / DrPH in Epidemiology with minimum 12 years post-graduation experience, or MPH/MSc in Epidemiology with minimum 15 years post-graduation experience
- Minimum 6 years of direct line management experience of multiple reports
- Demonstrated expertise in epidemiologic methods, observational study design, causal inference, and real world data analysis
- Proficiency with SAS, R, Python, or other statistical software packages
- Thorough and current knowledge of pharmacoepidemiology methods and applications
- Strong understanding of safety signal quantification and risk-benefit assessment
- Consistent record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with ability to present sophisticated information to diverse audiences
- Experience working optimally in cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior partners and drive consensus
- Travel may be required (up to 10%)
- In-person/hybrid work expectation with office presence in Boston, MA
