Job Summary
Lead a multi-disciplinary team spanning data acquisition, engineering, governance, and product management to oversee ingestion of clinical data from EMRs and maintain scalable, auditable pipelines. Define the data product strategy, establish business analysis practices, and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of clinical data assets consumed by analytics and operational teams. Enforce enterprise data governance policies aligned with HIPAA and 21 CFR Part 11, while championing AI-driven modernization of legacy workflows through intelligent automation and modern data stacks. Serve as the primary liaison for clinical data strategy with external client IT teams and internal executive leadership, presenting program status and roadmap updates. Requires 15+ years in data management or clinical informatics with senior people leadership experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Biomedical Informatics, or a related technical field
- 15+ years of progressive experience in data management, data engineering, or clinical informatics
- at least 5 years in senior people leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience managing large, distributed technical teams (10+ direct/indirect reports) in a fast-paced healthcare or life sciences environment
- Deep expertise in clinical data standards and interoperability frameworks (HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, LOINC)
- Knowledge of modern data engineering tools and platforms (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, or equivalent)
- Proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale data governance programs in regulated healthcare environments
- Strong understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11) and their operational implications
- Experience with AI/ML integration into data pipelines and a clear point of view on applying AI to automate and modernize data workflows
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences
- Up to 20% travel
- on-call availability during critical data pipeline incidents or regulatory audits

- Exposure to generative AI platforms and large language model (LLM) use cases for clinical data processing
