Senior Director, AI Risk Governance & Reporting

Job Summary
Define enterprise-wide AI risk accountability mechanisms and develop comprehensive governance frameworks that embed risk ownership across business units, Technology & Operations, and the AI Group. Create governance structures with senior leaders to facilitate cross-functional decision-making on AI risk matters, while developing dashboards and metrics to provide transparency on the organization's AI risk profile to management and the Board. Direct audit preparation and regulatory compliance responses, ensuring timely engagement with Internal Audit, Compliance, and external regulators. Lead the AI risk governance team, foster a culture of risk ownership, and deliver strategic guidance on emerging AI risks to senior leaders. Operate through partnerships with business units, Risk, and Internal Audit to ensure integrated risk management approaches aligned with RBC's risk appetite.
Required Qualifications
- Undergrad in finance, computer science or engineering
- Experience working in financial services
- Experience in risk management or control office
- Deep understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, governance structures, and regulatory landscapes
- Deep knowledge and experience in IT risk management within banking environments
- Ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable risk management practices
- Strong capability to build and drive enterprise-wide frameworks that align multiple stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational change
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate risk concepts to executive and technical audiences
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizations
- Knowledge of financial services regulations and evolving AI-specific regulatory requirements
