Job Summary
Senior Development Underwriter/Broker Relationship Manager (Hybrid) responsible for leading Zurich’s growth by combining underwriting leadership with proactive broker development across midmarket retail insurance. Lead originations, negotiations, and underwriting of midmarket risks while driving broker engagement, panel development, and market influence. Activities include evaluating broker performance, identifying new business opportunities, educating brokers through presentations and product training, monitoring market trends and regulatory developments, collaborating with underwriting and distribution teams to ensure seamless service, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to portfolio objectives and the company’s distribution strategy. The role emphasizes strengthening broker relationships, market presence, and driving profitable, tailored solutions, with flexible/part-time or full-time working arrangements and a hybrid in-office/remote setup in the Norwich/East Anglia area.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in mid market commercial/retail underwriting
- Strong technical and analytical capability
- Ability to assess and structure complex risks
- Deep understanding of the UK General Insurance landscape
- Proven success in managing, developing, and growing high value broker relationships
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and build rapport at senior levels
- Strong commercial and strategic mind set
- Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues
- DIP CII qualification (preferred)
