Senior Development Engineer

Job Summary
Develop new tires to meet optimal performance for customer approvals and maintain existing tire performance to satisfy expectations. Create test plans to evaluate tires and analyze data to make design recommendations. Lead tire development programs with minimal supervision while working closely with KRDC engineers on OEM and replacement projects. Travel to plants to assist in new tire development and manufacturing as required, interfacing directly with OEM and internal customers. Participate in tire-related organizations and collaborate with cross-functional international teams. Design and optimize mold profiles, tread patterns, and constructions independently, applying knowledge of compounding and regulatory issues.
Required Qualifications
- The ability to work with cross-functional and international teams
- CATIA V5 proficiency
- Basic Tire FEA
- Domestic and international travel
- Knowledge of plant-related activities concerning component preparation, tire building, and curing
- The ability to work directly with plant production teams and process engineers
- Knowledge of regulatory issues concerning tires
- Basic knowledge of compounding as it relates to tire performance
- Advanced knowledge of tire construction
- Ability to design and optimize mold profiles and constructions independently
- Intermediate knowledge of tread pattern design and ability to optimize tread patterns
- 7+ years of tire development experience
Desired Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
