Job Summary
Senior Developer Experience Engineer to own and evolve CI/CD infrastructure (GitHub Actions, deployment pipelines), build and maintain the developer portal (Backstage) with service catalog and TechDocs, create golden path templates for Go, Rails, and Vue.js services, and develop internal tooling to accelerate engineering workflows. You will configure AI-assisted coding tools with guardrails, enable self-service capabilities to ship in under 4 hours, drive adoption through documentation and developer education, collaborate with SRE to measure developer experience metrics (build times, deploy frequency, MTTR), and implement security and compliance automation that protects without slowing teams. This role is based in NYC with a Hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement and participates in a platform-engineering effort serving 300+ engineers, shaping technical foundations and team culture.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure automation
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions strongly preferred)
- Experience with Kubernetes deployments and container orchestration
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages; polyglot mindset valued
- Frontend development skills - you’ll be building portal UI and developer-facing tools
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design for scale and reliability
- Excellent written communication - you document as you build
