Job Summary
Design, develop, test, review, and maintain power systems applications supporting electrical utility operations, smart grid capabilities, and distributed energy resource use cases. Build software for highly available, scalable, and reliable power systems that monitor, study, optimize, control, and simulate power networks. Apply power system studies, modeling, simulation, optimization, and numerical methods to application development while collaborating on planning, testing, and meeting definition of done criteria. Identify technical issues, schedule risks, and quality concerns to resolve them within Linux and Windows development environments. Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related Engineering fields
- Ph.D. (preferred but listed as 'plus' in text, treated as desired per Step 3 soft cue)
- Solid knowledge and experience with power system studies, operation, modeling, simulation, optimization, and numerical methods
- Proficiency or experience with programming languages utilizing C#, C/C++, Java, Python, or FORTRAN
- Experience in Linux and Windows development environments
- Experience with power system data models and standards, such as CIM/XML
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on software development, debugging, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with EMS applications, such as load flow, contingency evaluation, state estimation, operator training simulators, and power system simulators
- Agile development environments
- Ph.D. (explicitly marked as 'plus')
