Job Summary
Build creative robotics projects demonstrating Viam's capabilities, then convert them into technical content including tutorials, videos, sample code, workshops, and talks. Represent the company at conferences, meetups, and hackathons through speaking, teaching, and hands-on collaboration with developers. Grow engagement across Discord and other technical communities while gathering feedback to guide Product and Engineering priorities. Experiment with emerging technologies and physical systems to identify opportunities for platform activation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a software engineer building, shipping, and maintaining production software used by real users
- Experience with Python, Go, C++, or TypeScript
- Strong technical judgment and the ability to independently scope, build, debug, and iterate on software projects with limited direction
- A track record of creating high-quality technical content for developers, such as tutorials, videos, sample projects, workshops, or talks
- Hands-on experience with hardware, IoT, embedded systems, electronics, maker projects, or similar physical systems
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly without losing technical depth
- A strong understanding of how developers discover, evaluate, and adopt new technologies
- Comfort speaking publicly, teaching, appearing on video, and engaging directly with developer communities
- Ability to move quickly, experiment often, and decide both what is worth building and how to build it
- Comfort traveling and participating in occasional evening or weekend events
- Hybrid 3 days/week in NYC office
