Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Designer for Bulk Material Handling Systems responsible for the design, selection, and engineering of bulk material handling equipment and systems for metallurgical plants, mining, and related facilities. Lead the development of equipment such as belt conveyors, apron feeders, crushers, bucket elevators, rotary dryers, and pneumatic handling systems; produce detailed engineering drawings and 3D CAD models using SmartPlant 3D, MicroStation, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Tekla; perform design calculations and load/capacity analyses in compliance with IS and CEMA codes; collaborate with R&D, procurement, and manufacturing to align solutions with project goals; review vendor specifications and manufacturing drawings; support concept through commissioning, including BOM and technical specifications; participate in value engineering and design optimization; mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement; requires strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, GD&T, DFM/DFA, PLM, and familiarity with IS/CEMA codes; exposure to equipment such as vibrating feeders, crushers, drive systems, ASRS, and unloading/bagging stations; and knowledge of fire protection systems, STP/WTP, and auxiliary mechanical packages.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 15 years’ experience working as a designer in bulk material handling system design
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and PLM
- Familiarity with IS and CEMA codes
- Experience with international projects and workshare execution models
- Exposure to vibrating feeders, crushers, drive systems, ASRS, and unloading/bagging stations
- Knowledge of fire protection systems, STP/WTP, and auxiliary mechanical packages
