Job Summary
Senior Design Researcher leading research efforts across cross-functional teams (Engineers, Industrial Designers, Product Managers) to inform product development for Milwaukee Tool. Responsibilities include designing multi-faceted discovery plans (qualitative and quantitative), field research on construction contexts, building and maintaining user networks, synthesizing insights to influence feature sets and business approaches, planning and facilitating hands-on tool evaluations, co-creation sessions, and presenting findings to stakeholders. The role emphasizes user-centered design, Design Thinking, mentoring junior researchers, and championing end-user needs throughout the product development process. travel up to 25-35% domestically; strong communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams are required.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Business, or Engineering
- Five years+ experience in the fuzzy front end of product development with an understanding of innovation methods and design thinking
- Five years+ experience using qualitative research methods including observation, interviewing, and contextual inquiry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and some experience with video editing and 2D software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)
