Job Summary
Senior Design Manager responsible for leading technical and design processes across utility and social infrastructure projects. Oversees design teams and external consultants to ensure fully coordinated designs compliant with regulations, on time, and within budget. Drives procurement and execution of design information, conducts value engineering, manages CDM Principal Designer duties, and collaborates with commercial, operations, and client teams. Ensures adherence to Building Regulations, Building Safety Act requirements, and safety standards, coordinates multi-discipline reviews (fire safety, structures, M&E, façades), leads design package presentations, and oversees document control, approvals, and handover information. Brings strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and a track record in high-rise or complex residential/building projects; proficient in CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit) and knowledgeable about PAS9980, EWS1, and FRA requirements.

- High-rise development experience and understanding of buildability and safety considerations
- Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit)
- Knowledge of PAS9980 fire risk assessments, EWS1s, FRAEW
- Valid driving licence
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- Site visits and coordination of design packages and handover information
- Knowledge of planning approvals and building control processes
- Experience with design change control and variations in costs
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to review drawings for buildability and compliance
- Regulatory compliance with health, safety and environmental policies
- Contractor/supplier design approvals and documentation workflows
- Experience with managing design information through document-management systems
- Understanding of fire safety and structural integrity in complex buildings
- Proven track record of delivering design within budget and programme constraints
