Senior Deputy Design Manager - Municipal Projects

Job Summary

Direct and support the Project Manager in managing civil scopes through all phases of design, preconstruction, construction procurement, and closeout for municipal renovation projects. Coordinate meetings, prepare documentation including reports, schedules, and change orders, and maintain project management software. Manage external design consultants, review design RFPs, and communicate conceptual civil designs to internal and external partners. Oversee electrical commissioning and adhere to SOX control responsibilities while managing multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days on-site. Candidates must have extensive CMAR experience, a civil engineering or construction management degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam. Salary range is $140K-$160K.

Required Qualifications

  • extensive prior experience working as a CM for a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) or as a CM managing CMAR Contracts
  • experience leading the pre-construction/design process
  • direct and support our team of Project Managers in managing the CMARs and AEs throughout the design, preconstruction, construction, procurement, construction, and closeout
  • Hybrid role requiring 2-3 days on site
  • frequent interaction with the Owner/Client, consultants, design professionals and contractors
  • managing, coordinating and administering civil scopes through all phases of design and construction
  • ensuring all aspects of client services are delivered at the highest level
  • preparation of documents (reports, schedules, invoices, RFI's, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, inspections, closeout and client presentations)
  • maintaining information in project management software
  • Coordinate to schedule meetings with the project team
  • Communicate conceptual civil designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction
  • Maintenance of Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for civil elements
  • Review and inform design RFPs
  • Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process
  • Effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners
  • Manage multiple fast paced projects simultaneously
  • Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability
  • Oversee the commissioning of electrical scopes and coordinate with the project management team for project completion
  • SOX control responsibilities
  • Experience and working in Project Management on large-scale construction programs
  • Construction consultancy experience
  • Experienced in Civil design
  • Prior commissioning experience
  • Manufacturing or Mission Critical experience
  • Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to be highly effective in a client facing role
  • Team player; ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality programs
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
  • Licensed architect or architectural education
