Job Summary
Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of Scribe's data tier. Lead schema design reviews, migration safety, and incident response for the data stack; optimize the Django ORM at scale; manage the CDC pipeline from Aurora through DMS to S3 Parquet and Snowflake; build observability across pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb; ensure multi-AZ resilience; develop self-service tooling and dashboards; contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing for a growing team.
Required Qualifications
- Has deep PostgreSQL expertise and production experience with ORMs (Django, SQLAlchemy, ActiveRecord, or similar)
- Experience with CDC pipelines (ideally AWS DMS)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring/tracing tools (pganalyze, CloudWatch, Honeycomb) and OpenTelemetry
- Proficiency in Python or Go and IaC tooling (Terraform)
- Experience with OpenSearch, Redis, and message brokers (SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka)
- Ability to design for multi-AZ resilience and data-tier reliability
- Strong understanding of MVCC, vacuum, locks, and performance tuning in Aurora Serverless
- Ability to author self-service tooling and documentation
- Willingness to contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing
- Bonus: experience with Snowflake, Parquet, and data pipelines
