Senior Database Engineer

Job Summary
Manage, monitor, and maintain assigned databases and operating system resources in a 24/7 environment, ensuring availability and performance compliance. Provide engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance, and support while overseeing production and non-production hosting environments. Build, refresh, and move databases; configure high availability, load balancing, and failover solutions. Secure databases through access control and evaluation, and implement change management for production releases. Apply database observability tools to identify and prevent system issues, and collaborate with software engineering teams to review application design and code.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Provide engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance and support in a 24/7 environment
- Monitor designated applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system downtime
- Build /create / refresh / move databases as required
- Configure solutions for High Availability, Load balancing and fail over support
- Secure all databases by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation
- Install/Upgrade database software, patches for Oracle, MySql, PostgreSQL Databases
- Deep understanding of AWS services related to databases
- Database DevOps Automation and adoption using Terraform, CloudFormation
- Strong knowledge of AWS Services like EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Aurora, API Gateway, SNS & DMS
- Strong Experience with Data Migration tools like Goldengate, DMS, FiveTran
- Apply engineering knowledge, Database Observability tools and processes to identify/prevent/reduce the frequency or likelihood of potential issues
- Work closely with software engineering teams to review application design and code frequently to ensure that standards are being adhered to
- Work closely with database vendors to seek support for technical issues
- Provide technical solutions and escalated support for highly complex technical issues
- Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance
- Maintain documentation on physical and logical layout and assets of the technical architectures to maximize availability and reliability
- Implement changes into production environments to support change management and release scheduling
- Strong working knowledge on Oracle Support processes for technical requests resolution
- Strong Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to coordinate with multiple IT and Business stakeholders
- Ability to efficiently work on multiple complex projects or assignments concurrently
- Ability to think logically and analytically
- Knowledge of Privileged Access Management tools like BeyondTrust, SailPoint etc

- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional)
- Experience with microservices and serverless architecture
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools
- Experience in HR Services industry
- Strong ITIL principles
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing
