Job Summary
Design, deploy, and optimize database technologies across multi-cloud and on-premises environments using Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views while creating and managing indices to improve performance. Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures, conducting drills to validate RTO/RPO compliance. Monitor database metrics, implement tuning strategies, and troubleshoot replication, clustering, and connectivity issues. Collaborate with developers to design efficient data models and enforce security best practices, access controls, and encryption standards. Manage migrations, upgrades, and version control within an Agile/DevOps environment.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional database engineering experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later)
- T-SQL development (complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers)
- Index strategies and execution plan optimization
- MSSQL Always-On Availability Groups configuration, management, and failover procedures
- MSSQL mirroring and log shipping for disaster recovery scenarios
- Backup and restore strategies, including recovery models (Simple, Bulk-Logged, Full) and point-in-time recovery
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Strong experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora
- Proficiency in backup/restore, recovery models, and disaster recovery planning
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, authentication, and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Desired Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Data Engineer)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager)
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipelines
- Experience with database monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Redgate, Solarwinds)
- Knowledge of high-availability architecture and replication
- Familiarity of CI/CD, version control, and automated testing
- Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment
- AWS or Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus
