Job Summary
Senior Database Administrator responsible for on-prem and AWS cloud database administration across PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS SQL Server, providing L3 production support. Collaborates with Global System Admins, Product development, QA, and DevSecOps to develop and administer software systems using both SQL databases and NoSQL. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, and patching RDBMS in traditional on-prem environments and AWS public cloud; guiding large, complex database projects; writing Unix shell scripts to automate tasks; managing backups, restores, disaster recovery planning, monitoring, and incident response; and participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Requires hands-on database expertise, strong communication, independent work style, and a focus on performance tuning, capacity planning, problem resolution, and designing architectures for new systems. Willingness to relocate to different locations is noted as part of the company’s global operations.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience supporting/managing multiple, high volume, large multi-terabyte production databases
- Advanced database management skills including Database monitoring, performance tuning and capacity planning; proven experience implementing and supporting SQL Tuning
- Backup and recovery processes; UNIX shell scripting, and SQL skills
- Experience managing infrastructure systems, including server, storage, and network
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Data Engineering
- Working knowledge of AWS Public cloud, RDS, Aurora, Cloud watch, Splunk
- Working knowledge of Data Warehouse (DW), BI Reporting
- Knowledge of Data modeling, pros and cons of normalization
- Knowledge of CI/CD automations and Database deployment tools
