Job Summary
Manage global database platform daily operations, including initial setup, tools development, and high-volume database administration to ensure maximum stability and availability. Install and upgrade databases and high-availability solutions while developing automation, monitoring, and tooling to support complex environments. Participate in an on-call rotation to support database-related production incidents and resolve root causes. Requires expert-level PostgreSQL and MariaDB knowledge, Linux/Unix expertise, and strong scripting skills (Python, Bash). Based in the global infrastructure unit spanning 18 countries and 38 data centers, supporting a diverse estate of 888 MariaDB and 220 PostgreSQL databases.
Required Qualifications
- Expert-level knowledge in PostgreSQL and Maria DB database administration
- Knowledge and know-how of the IT field in general - specifically about network and operating systems (Linux/Unix)
- Strong scripting ability (Python, Bash, or similar) to support tooling and automation workflows
- A true team player and open to new ways of doing things
- Novel thinking and fresh ideas
- Challenged by problems - the more complex, the more interesting
- Proactive - when you see something that's broken, it's only natural for you to get it fixed and find out the root causes
- Strive to continuously expand your knowledge and have strong learning capabilities to support this
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Hands‐on experience with AWS database services
- Experience running databases on Kubernetes using MariaDB or PostgreSQL operators
