Senior Database Administrator

Job Summary
Build and configure PostgreSQL database clusters, including replication, PostGIS, and pgAudit extensions. Fine-tune server configurations for performance and manage regular backups, recovery, and maintenance tasks like vacuuming and reindexing. Monitor production uptime, estimate capacities, and lead efforts to automate monitoring and reduce downtime through proactive intervention. Design disaster recovery plans and high-availability solutions while collaborating with the application team for impact analysis on builds and patches. Write efficient queries and utilize Unix/Shell scripting to support these operational duties.
Required Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 2 to 5 years' support and/or project experience in a Database Administrator role
- Good DBA Experience in any DBA technologies
- Minimum 1.5 to 2 years of experience in PostgreSQL
- Experience in PostGreSQL db upgrade
- Experience in managing PostGreSQL on Cloud (PAAS/IAAS)
- Experience in managing PostGreSQL via Docker/Container
- Understanding of enterprise application technology architecture, components, databases, networking, and infrastructure as code
- Ability to write efficient queries
- Strong scripting experience - Unix/Shell Scripting, Python
- Technical knowledge of Linux & Windows-based platforms
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- LDAPs configuration for authentication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate experience in suggesting an improvement idea or working on a continuous improvement initiative
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Committed to learning new technologies and effectively applying them in daily work activities
- Flexible to provide support after working hours, weekends and/or Wilayah Persekutuan public holidays when required
- Able to commit to hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum of 3 days in office
- Candidate should have available transport to commute to office for the expected business support hours
Desired Qualifications
- Good knowledge in Docker, Replication, Sharding, Ops Manager
- Having experience in managing PostGreSQL on Cloud (PAAS/IAAS) is an added advantage
- Having experience in managing PostGreSQL via Docker/Container is an added advantage
