Job Summary

Administer, optimize, and secure SQL and NoSQL databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and Cosmos DB across production environments. Design scalable architectures, manage deployments, and execute capacity planning for high-volume data. Write complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers while reviewing development team code for performance improvements and adherence to coding standards. Implement comprehensive monitoring, indexing, and sharding strategies to resolve bottlenecks, alongside automated backup, disaster recovery drills, and high availability configurations. Enforce security best practices, role-based access controls, and encryption to ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, and ISO 27001. Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate database services on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms, maintaining detailed documentation and runbooks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in production environments
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL query writing, optimization, and performance tuning
  • Strong command of SQL databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle
  • Proficiency in NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Redis or Document DB
  • Advanced knowledge of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views development
  • Experience with database design, normalization, denormalization, and data modelling
  • Expertise in indexing strategies, query execution plans, and performance profiling
  • Strong understanding of database internals, storage engines, and transaction management
  • In-depth knowledge of database security, encryption, and access control mechanisms
  • Experience implementing GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements
  • Understanding of audit logging, compliance reporting, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with data privacy, data masking, and sensitive data management
  • Advanced knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity
  • Experience with high availability solutions: replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms
  • Proven track record of successful disaster recovery testing and execution
  • Expertise in database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization
  • Experience with monitoring tools: Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving database bottlenecks proactively
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages
  • Experience with automation tools: Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, or Chef
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and database DevOps practices

Desired Qualifications

  • Good to have working knowledge on Kubernetes/ Docker
