Job Summary
Senior Data Scientist role focusing on AI/ML model development for banking/financial services. Responsibilities include tracking latest AI/ML developments and assessing their relevance to business use cases, evaluating feasibility and recommending technical approaches, building rapid POCs (2–3 days), benchmarking vendor/open-source solutions with clear recommendations, designing and developing end-to-end ML/DL models (algorithm selection, feature engineering, optimisation), delivering prototypes within 2–4 weeks with strong validation, ensuring model performance, robustness, and bias checks, using generative AI tools to accelerate prototyping, collaborating with product, business, and engineering teams in an agile environment, mentoring junior team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders. Skills & Experience required include 7+ years in data science/ML, expertise in ML/DL, NLP, time series, Python, LLMs, statistics, SQL, cloud ML platforms, and familiarity with version control and data science tooling. The role is located in Putrajaya and is fully onsite, with emphasis on rapid experimentation and business impact, supported by an English-speaking environment.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning
- Proven experience in banking or financial services
- Hands-on experience with Python (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, LightGBM)
- Solid understanding of LLMs and modern techniques (fine-tuning, RAG, prompt engineering, agents)
- Experience with SQL and large-scale data processing
- Exposure to cloud ML platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with Git, Jupyter, Databricks
