Job Summary
Senior Data Scientist for Audience Analytics for Healthy Communities drives data-driven insights to plan and optimize national health education campaigns. Responsibilities include building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in medallion architecture (Python, R), developing data visualizations in Tableau/Power BI, performing descriptive analyses, causal inference, segmentation, and predictive modeling; producing reports, presentations, and models; coordinating with internal teams and vendors to integrate campaign media data into dashboards; presenting findings to clients and engaging in ongoing collaboration with campaign teams; working in a team to design data-informed communication campaigns; leveraging cloud services (AWS) and GIS tools as part of data workflows; and applying advanced analytics across large, complex datasets. The role requires strong data engineering, visualization, and communications skills, with a Master’s degree (PhD preferred) and 5+ years’ experience in data science or related fields, plus proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and experience with Tableau/Power BI, AWS, medallion architecture, and machine learning methods; applicants may undergo a government security investigation and must be eligible for access to sensitive information.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social science, data science, public health, statistics, marketing or related field.
- PhD preferred
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience with data science, segmentation, or communications planning
- Proficiency with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
- Experience with Cloud computing servers (e.g. AWS) and data and data science related services (e.g., RDS, S3, SageMaker)
- Expertise in Python
- Proficiency in R and SQL
- Experience using database and ETL systems to query and extract data using medallion architecture
- Data science experience including supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised models; generalized linear/additive models; mixed models; random forest; clustering techniques; Bayesian approaches; cross-validation and model performance evaluation
- Experience working with large, complex, and nuanced datasets
- Superior verbal and written communications skills

- Preferred Qualifications: Applied experience with communications, media, or advertising
- Experience with audience segmentation and proficiency in commercial segmentation (e.g., MRI-Simmons, Nielsen, Claritas)
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS)
- Knowledge of marketing metrics, marketing principles and terminology
- Experience working with government public health agencies such as HHS, FDA, CDC, CMS, or statistical agencies like Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, or Bureau of Economic Affairs.
