Job Summary
Lead Microsoft Fabric rollout and accelerate group-wide adoption of Lakehouse, Data Factory, and Warehousing solutions. Manage DBA responsibilities for production SQL Server environments, driving query optimization, performance tuning, and pipeline maintenance for ETL/ELT processes. Mentor apprentices and senior engineers while translating complex technical concepts into business value for stakeholders. Support legacy system modernization and data platform migrations to ensure robust, high-performing data infrastructure. Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Warehousing) to lead and accelerate our active rollout
- Advanced experience in T-SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning within Microsoft SQL Server
- Proven track record of DBA responsibilities, maintaining database efficiency, and supporting production data environments
- Deep understanding of designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schemas)
- Strong knowledge of data quality principles, validation, governance, and data integrity controls
- Excellent communication skills—able to break down complex technical topics and communicate effectively with non-technical business stakeholders
- Proactive mindset: someone who takes initiative, asks 'why,' and constantly seeks to drive efficiencies and performance improvements
- A passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing talent (from apprentices to experienced engineers)
- Strong analytical, root-cause investigation, and problem-solving skills
- Significant experience in data engineering or data platform management, with a track record of translating business requirements into scalable data solutions
- Experience supporting modern data platform migrations, lakehouse architectures, or system modernization projects
- Degree in IT, Science, Maths, or equivalent industry experience
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience developing semantic models and using tools like Power BI
