Job Summary
Senior Data Engineer role at YLD, remote-first consultancy with teams across Lisbon, Porto, and London. Deliver data work on client engagements including pipelines, transformation layers, models, and related infrastructure; adapt to various client contexts including legacy migrations and greenfield lakehouses; define and evolve internal standards for data work; mentor data engineers; contribute to proposals and engagements; represent the company to external audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL
- Typed Python for data pipelines
- Experience with data modelling (dimensional/Data Vault/normalised/denormalised)
- Ability to design idempotent and incremental transformations
- Experience with batch/streaming/micro-batch pipelines
- Data testing and schema contracts
- Data observability and incident response
- CI/CD for data pipelines and IaC practices
- Experience with orchestration and warehouses (Airflow, Dagster, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks)
- Data governance concepts (lineage, cataloguing, access control)
- Cost-conscious data warehousing practices
- Cross-functional collaboration and client-facing work
- Ability to contribute to proposals and client relationships
- Active in data community (writing/speaking/open-source)
