Job Summary
Senior Data Engineer at IKS Health responsible for designing and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines ingesting clinical, claims, and operational data from EHRs, HL7 FHIR APIs, EDI feeds, and third-party SaaS platforms; building and optimizing data models in cloud data warehouses (BigQuery) to support analytics, reporting, and ML workflows; implementing orchestration frameworks and real-time data pipelines; provisioning cloud data infrastructure on GCP with IaC; enforcing HIPAA/HITECH compliance, data governance, and access controls; applying healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 v2/v3, FHIR R4, ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC); establishing data quality frameworks and observability; collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and ML engineers; mentoring junior data engineers and driving CI/CD standards for data pipelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks
- Experience with HL7 FHIR and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Strong experience with Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience
- Experience with cloud-native environments on GCP
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Experience with dbt and modern data orchestration (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- HIPAA/HITECH familiarity
