Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary
Build and maintain data pipelines and services supporting evolving sustainability standards, while re-architecting legacy systems and shaping underlying data models for reporting. Own data quality through automated validation, testing, and production monitoring to catch issues early. Make data discoverable by documenting definitions, lineage, and pipeline logic for self-service access. Guide architecture decisions, frame trade-offs, and raise engineering standards through design reviews. You will work closely with the Product team on both legacy and greenfield initiatives using Python, SQL, and cloud infrastructure. This role involves solving ambiguous problems from diagnosis to shipment while mentoring others on complex technical work.
Required Qualifications
- A track record of building and running data pipelines and services in production, seeing them through end-to-end, and iterating on your approach as lessons emerge
- Strong Python and SQL
- Enough data analysis skill to interrogate a dataset and answer a question with it
- Hands-on experience running systems in a cloud environment: infrastructure as code, containers, and continuous deployment
- A solid grounding in data modelling and warehouse design
- The ability to take an ambiguous problem from diagnosis through to something shipped
- Comfort with context-heavy work
- A habit of turning agentic tools into workflows the rest of the team adopts, with the judgement to catch what they get wrong
- You solve it at the system level
- You can tell a recurring bug apart from the design that keeps producing it
- You bring the design forward with the impact and a proposal
- You lift the people around you

- Experience in sustainability, real estate, or financial services is a plus
