Senior Data Engineer Consultant

Job Summary
Advising clients on best data and analytics practices while delivering capabilities on time and to budget. Capture client requirements and model data to develop effective intelligence solution architectures. Design and develop bespoke Data Platform, Business Intelligence, and Advanced Analytics solutions leveraging the latest cloud technologies. Implement solutions using best practices for data management and transformation, and design reports and dashboards to present information clearly. This role supports Hitachi Solutions Europe's mission to revolutionize modern businesses through Microsoft technologies, specifically within the UK's private and public sectors. Candidates act as trusted advisors to clients and internal teams, combining technical acumen with strong client-facing experience to drive efficiency and growth.
Required Qualifications
- Strong client facing experience, previously working for a management consultancy or system integrator
- Demonstrable experience designing or developing advanced business intelligence & analytics solutions using the full Microsoft BI stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
- Design & development experience using data discovery tools such as Microsoft Power BI, QlikView, Tableau
- Ability to model and transform data, build ETL solutions and present data in a useful business context
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages such as Python
- Familiarity with data integration tools like Azure Data Factory and data platform solutions such as Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks
- Experience or awareness of Big Data and Data Science and/or AI technologies, including the integration of Machine Learning models and/or Generative AI components
- Experience within the Data Engineering and AI domain, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
