Job Summary
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer responsible for leading the security operations and incident response lifecycle, driving automation and orchestration, and acting as the primary architect of the automated defense posture. The role targets a builder who can bridge traditional security operations with modern automation, owning security tools, leading incident response, guiding AI tool integrations, expanding SIEM/XDR capabilities, threat hunting, and vulnerability management. Key duties include managing MSSP partnerships, developing secure architectures, implementing AI/LLM security practices, conducting risk-based remediation, maintaining identity lifecycle controls, and supporting university (college) security needs with regulatory alignment.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in a Security Engineering or Systems Engineering role with security focus
- Proven automation proficiency using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate security workflows and manage infrastructure as code
- Strong systems architecture knowledge with Active Directory/Entra ID, VMware/Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (GCP/Azure)
- Proven incident response track record with leadership of security incident response activities
- Proficiency with XDR telemetry, SIEM management, and secure configurations; experience with MDR services
- Experience in securing AI/LLM deployments, data governance, and threat modeling for AI vectors
- Identity Management (IAM) expertise including automated user lifecycles and access reviews
- Higher education security needs familiarity (HECVAT, shadow IT) and relevant regulatory knowledge (NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
- Advanced certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or CISA preferred
- Experience in security tool optimization and automation in cross-functional projects
- Experience with securing cloud architectures and cross-functional security reviews
- Ability to balance business needs with security risk in a college environment
