Senior Curator

Senior Curator based in Islamabad, leading the artistic intelligence behind Darwaza’s exhibitions. Responsibilities include developing curatorial concepts and narratives, identifying and selecting contemporary Pakistani artists, maintaining relationships with artists, studios and institutions, translating concepts into concrete exhibitions, writing exhibition texts in English, coordinating across borders with European partners, managing loans and provenance documentation, conceiving and moderating public dialogues (talks, panels, conversations), and representing Darwaza with credibility and discretion within the Pakistani cultural sector. Requirements include a Master’s degree in a closely related field, at least 5 years of independent curatorial experience, a proven track record in major institutional settings, deep knowledge of the contemporary Pakistani and wider South Asian art scene, excellent written English, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across cultures. Desirable: international exhibitions experience, familiarity with loan logistics, Urdu fluency, and a strong European/diaspora network.
