Senior Credit Risk & Collections Specialist

Job Summary

Manage customer accounts by overseeing collections of outstanding invoices, assessing creditworthiness through checks and payment history analysis, and reviewing credit limits to balance commercial opportunities with risk. Monitor aged debt reports to identify emerging risks and take proactive action, while liaising with trade credit insurers on policy compliance and claims. Partner with Wholesale Sales and internal stakeholders to identify credit risks, negotiate payment arrangements, and enforce credit policies where required. Prepare accurate statements and reports, maintain communication records within financial systems, and provide insights on significant credit and collection matters to management. Coordinate reporting governance with the overseas parent company and support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen credit control processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' experience in commercial credit, credit risk, accounts receivable, collections, banking or a related commercial environment
  • Strong understanding of credit management principles, collections processes and relevant legal requirements
  • Experience assessing creditworthiness, managing credit limits and reviewing customer payment behaviour
  • Strong analytical skills and sound commercial judgement, with the ability to interpret financial information and make informed recommendations
  • Confidence managing sensitive financial conversations, negotiating payment arrangements and influencing stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, senior management and internal stakeholders
  • A strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders
  • The confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, competing priorities and deadlines
  • A proactive approach, with demonstrated ownership, initiative and accountability
  • The ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively across the broader business
  • Travel interstate occasionally, as required, to support business operations and stakeholder engagement

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with trade credit insurers is highly desirable
  • Experience preparing management reports, internal approval papers and supporting governance processes will be advantageous
