Job Summary
Senior Counsel leads end-to-end structuring of Bank–fintech partnerships, drafts and negotiates complex customer and third-party agreements, and advises on regulatory frameworks (Reg E, NACHA, card network rules, money transmission, Reg CC, UCC 4A) to enable Column’s payments products. You’ll partner with GTM, Engineering, Finance, Risk and Compliance to design scalable legal processes, create innovative partnership structures, and ensure compliance while driving product strategy and speed-to-market. The role emphasizes strategic legal voice across product development, regulatory architecture, and technology-enabled workflows (including AI) to support hypergrowth in fintech banking infrastructure. The position reports to the Bank’s General Counsel and involves shaping regulatory considerations, onboarding frameworks, and partnership execution for payments solutions.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. or equivalent
- Licensed in a U.S. state
- 7–15+ years as a practicing lawyer
- Deep expertise counseling product teams on banking infrastructure and embedded finance solutions
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing banking partnerships and fintech services
- Deep working knowledge of NACHA rules, card network operating regulations, Regulation E, UCC Article 4A, BSA/AML and OFAC
