Job Summary
Manage day-to-day legal issues and coordinate compliance for unregulated business subsidiaries, supporting project development, construction, and contracting processes. Lead contract formation and negotiation across purchase agreements, equipment, procurement, and long-term service structures. Advise business leaders on risk mitigation strategies while reviewing, drafting, and interpreting power purchase agreements and energy sales contracts. Support strategic operations including acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnership governance. Provide primary legal support for the PowerSecure legal department and assist the compliance function in identifying and managing contract obligations. Work hybrid with occasional travel and flexible hours to accommodate multiple time zones.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree Required
- Current state license (in good standing) to practice law in North Carolina or another state
- Minimum 7 years legal experience
- Experience in equipment supply, procurement, or construction contracts
- Experience in project development
- Experience in manufacturing
- Experience in the energy industry
- Experienced with negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
- Experience managing other attorneys and legal teams
- Ability to review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial contracting matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Able to work effectively with all levels of organization
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates initiative and can prioritize work
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Independent worker and problem solver
- Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate different time zones (Central/Eastern/Mountain/Pacific), if necessary
- Be flexible for after-hours tasks, as needed
