Job Summary
Senior Counsel – Litigation: Lead litigation strategy across assigned matters, including pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial/arbitration, and settlement; independently evaluate claims and exposure, advise on case strategy and settlement authority within delegated limits; manage pre-litigation disputes, regulatory inquiries, and threatened claims; direct outside counsel with scope, staffing, budgets, strategy, and outcomes; provide clear reporting to senior legal leadership on case posture, risk exposure, reserves, and trends; collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and business teams to identify issues and address litigation risk; deliver practical, business-oriented advice, draft and review key pleadings and internal memoranda; support regulatory matters and enforcement actions, and contribute to development of litigation playbooks and best practices; mentor junior attorneys and legal staff; coverage areas include Consumer, Retail, Mortgage, Commercial, Capital Markets, Securities, IP, and Wealth & Asset Management.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. required
- Admission to a state bar
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to interface with senior management with diplomacy
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge of relevant legal areas
- Extensive research and analytical skills
- Team building and leadership skills
