Job Summary

Conduct FTO analyses, patent landscaping, and validity assessments to identify and issue-spot IP risks. Manage IP matters impacting team quality by contributing to policy, standard work, and FLIGHT DECK metrics. Support IP transactions including R&D agreements, licenses, and USG contracts, while advising on FAR/DFARS data rights. Assist with patent and trade secret disputes through legal research, memorandum drafting, and case strategy collaboration. Synthesize information for IP asset development and portfolio analysis recommendations to senior leaders. Assess existing protocols to drive continuous improvement and collaborate with internal and external resources to solve complex problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited university
  • Minimum 3 years practicing IP law (law firm or combined law firm/in-house) with demonstrated ability to issue-spot, analyze, and solve complex IP problems
  • Member in good standing of a US state bar
  • USPTO admission
  • familiarity with patent prosecution processes
  • patent/trade secret litigation (District Court, Federal Circuit, ITC, PTAB) lifecycle
  • FTO, validity/infringement opinions
  • portfolio diligence
  • enforcement investigations
  • drafting/negotiating IP agreements/licenses/settlements
  • advising on FAR/DFARS data rights
  • Developing specialized expertise in IP law
  • maintains proactive awareness of latest legal and regulatory developments in the IP field
  • uses strategic thinking to align IP advice, policies, and portfolio priorities with business goals and best outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics (accredited)
  • USPTO admission preferred
