Job Summary
Senior Counsel, Global Commercial Legal for AbbVie’s Oncology unit. Provides proactive legal counsel on commercial, regulatory, and compliance issues across product launches, patient support models, marketing strategies, promotion, scientific exchange, and managed care contracting. Advises across Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and others on FDA regulations, anti-kickback and related compliance, and government policy initiatives. Helps shape legal policies, manages risk with internal/external partners, and translates regulatory/industry shifts into actionable guidance. Location-based hybrid work in Mettawa, IL or Florham Park, NJ with leadership in-house and outside counsel oversight.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state and meet professional licensing requirements of the state in which you practice
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in-house at a pharmaceutical company, or in a life sciences/healthcare law practice, or government attorney
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risk with enterprise outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle complex matters with autonomy and cross-functional collaboration
- Hybrid work model (onsite 3+ days/week) in Mettawa, IL or Florham Park, NJ
