Job Summary
Senior Counsel at CHFA responsible for documentation and closing of multifamily financing under Chapter 134 and CHFA programs, including loan closings, tax credit matters, and related real estate transactions. Tasks include preparing legal documents, closing loans, addressing asset management and tax credit allocation matters, preparing contracts, RFPs and RFQs, assisting with legislative matters, handling FOIA requests, and providing general legal support to the General Counsel and CHFA staff. Requires JD, admission to the CT Bar, and extensive experience in real estate and/or finance law; involves supervision of junior staff and collaboration with multiple CHFA departments to advance housing-finance programs and governance obligations. Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD) required
- Admission to the Bar of the State of Connecticut
- 10 years' experience in real estate and/or finance law preferred
- Working knowledge of commercial real estate finance and/or housing finance programs and structures
- Experience in preparation and review of loan documents and other legal documentation
- Experience in contract preparation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance priorities under time constraints
- Familiarity with current office technology
- Ability to provide legal support to General Counsel and CHFA staff across departments
- Experience with legislative matters, FOIA requests, and CHFA governance tasks
