Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Life Sciences Construction

Job Summary

Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle while producing final cost plans and managing cost checks for medium to large-scale laboratory, R&D, and office developments. Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams to inform engineering decisions, prepare written comments on contractor submissions, and produce monthly cost reports. Lead negotiations on contractor pricing, manage contingency tracking, and ensure robust cost validation and auditing processes. Support funding data presentations, value engineering sessions, and post-contract change control to deliver value-added cost management services for life sciences clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in construction cost management
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large, complex construction projects
  • Construction consultancy experience
  • Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting laboratory, pharmaceutical, or life sciences construction projects
  • RICS accredited or working toward accreditation
