Job Summary
Senior Cost Estimator to support LA Metro’s LA 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games Program. Develop independent and contractor-style construction cost estimates across all project phases (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, change orders), perform detailed quantity takeoffs, validate scope and constructability, and apply pricing for labor, equipment, materials, taxes, and markups. Support estimates for alternative delivery methods including evaluation of contractor proposals and progressive design-build pricing. Analyze cost impacts of scope changes, schedule impacts, and risk items; participate in estimate reviews and reconciliations with clients and third-party estimators/contractors. Coordinate with Project Controls, scheduling, and project management to ensure alignment with scope and delivery strategy. Maintain estimating files and historical cost data; support change order evaluations and negotiations. Requires 15+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and familiarity with Design-Build/CMAR methods; located in Los Angeles with a hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
- 15+ years of construction cost estimating experience for large, complex capital projects
- Experience producing estimates in contractor or design-build environments
- Experience supporting alternative delivery methods (Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMGC/CMAR)
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans/specifications and develop detailed scope-based estimates
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present estimate rationale and defend assumptions
