Job Summary
Develop independent cost estimates (ICE) at various design stages, including conceptual, preliminary, and final phases. Prepare and review cost estimates for change orders and claims analysis while analyzing project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate pricing. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to validate cost assumptions and utilize estimating software to prepare detailed cost breakdowns. Maintain current knowledge of industry pricing, labor rates, and market trends. Provide expert input on risk assessment and value engineering opportunities. Minimum 10 years of experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems is required, along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on electrical systems
- Proven record of accomplishment with infrastructure projects (transit, bridges, highways, rail)
- Ability to develop independent cost estimates and analyze change orders and claims
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (required)
- Must be highly proficient in the use of laptop and desktop computers
- Must have demonstrated exceptional proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Must have experience in reading construction plans and specifications and developing the crews, equipment, and production rates required to build a project
- Must be fluent in the English language, have excellent writing skills, and have excellent oral communication skills
- Must have a positive attitude, calm demeanor, and work well with others
- AACE certification (Certified Estimating Professional or similar) is a plus
- Familiarity with construction management consulting practices
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local infrastructure project requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Must have a current, valid driver's license in which the employee performs his or her driving duties and have a satisfactory driving record
- OSHA 10 certification is a condition of employment
- Background checks required
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Sage Estimating or HCSS Heavy Bid Software is highly desirable
