Job Summary
Integrate PLM (3D Experience/CATIA) with Cost Estimating tools to ensure CAD data flows seamlessly and reduce non-value add work. Analyze the accuracy and structure of CAD and BOM data to fix issues before building Cost Estimates, utilizing written assumptions, sample parts, and engineering drawings. Work with the PLM team and Cost Estimating Software vendors to address inefficiencies, delays, or errors in the software. Continuously analyze data to highlight trends for Cost Engineers and Managers, while independently applying manufacturing principles to maintain knowledge of material properties and cost drivers. Build and present compelling business cases to explain component cost analysis and persuade stakeholders to use output for financial opportunities. Assume ownership of projects, plan milestones, and identify risks to ensure timely delivery of cost models within agreed completion dates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed based on business needs, expected to average up to 25%
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of how work informs sourcing decisions, design trade-offs, and supplier negotiations
- Experience with Stampings, Injection Molding, High Pressure Die Casting, Extrusion, Forging, Machining, etc.
- Advanced usage of various systems with the ability to conduct larger-scale gap analysis to identify focus areas and outliers
- Confidently fields questions from peers and is learning to tailor their communication style to different audiences
- Proactively communicates issues that have an impact outside of Cost Engineering, flagging risks and opportunities to the relevant teams
- Consistently uses first principles to drive change and responds actively to feedback from senior team members to close skill gaps
