Job Summary
The Senior Cost Consultant will develop and maintain construction cost estimates at all project design milestones, conduct detailed cost analysis for materials and labor, and prepare comprehensive cost estimates and budgets. The role includes advising clients on cost-saving measures, collaborating with various stakeholders, conducting price benchmarking, managing contracts, and ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations. Candidates should have over 7 years of relevant experience, a degree in Quantity Surveying, and proficiency in construction estimation and related software.
Required Qualifications
- 7 plus years’ experience delivering architectural and structural pre-construction and post contract construction cost services.
- A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents and identify any scope gaps when completing an estimate.
- A commitment to continuous professional development.
- A high level of commercial awareness and exceptional communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities and advanced organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proven experience in managing and successfully delivering quantity surveying mandates.
- Demonstrated first‐principles estimating experience.
- Strong drawing and specification interpretation.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel for database and spreadsheet development and maintenance.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Projects, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Full Canadian working rights (Citizen, Permanent Resident or valid Work Permit).
Desired Qualifications
- Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); and/or The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is preferred.
- Experience with estimating software and tools. Knowledge of and experience using CostX is an asset.
