Job Summary
The Senior Corporate Counsel - Power & Utilities will support the company’s energy strategy team and stakeholders in various transactional matters. Responsibilities include negotiating and drafting contracts with electric utilities and power suppliers, advising on power transactions, facilitating communication among teams, managing outside counsel, and assisting with legal compliance and corporate governance. The role demands strong legal acumen, particularly in energy-related contracts, alongside excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school with strong academic credentials
- Admission to the Bar of a U.S. state or the District of Columbia
- Five or more years of legal experience as a practicing lawyer working in a general corporate transactional practice
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with or representing regulated utilities or large consumers of energy
- Experience with retail generation transactions
- Experience with PPAs
- Experience with behind the meter generation projects and other non-traditional power solutions
- Experience representing large consumers of energy
