Job Summary
Senior Corporate Counsel for U.S. Bank’s in-house Law Division supporting U.S. Bank’s global merchant acquiring business (MPS). Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and negotiating complex partner agreements; advising the MPS Revenue Team during partner acquisitions (including ISOs, ISVs, fintechs, financial institutions, and fourth-party relationships); drafting, updating, and maintaining partner contract templates; and ensuring contractual terms align with business objectives and risk tolerance. Requires practicing law in the United States, with at least five years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm, and experience negotiating partner agreements. Location expectation requires working from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week; strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills; familiarity with payment services and financial services regulations is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authority
- Five or more years of experience practicing law in an in-house legal department or at a law firm advising business clients in a full-time attorney position
- Experience in negotiating and drafting agreements with partners
- Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate complex legal concepts in layman terms with both internal clients and external customers
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed leadership abilities and time management skills
- Client management, diplomacy, and people skills
- Experience with payment services and financial services regulations is desirable
