Job Summary
Senior Corporate Counsel, Compliance will join Expeditors’ global legal team to design, oversee, and continuously improve Expeditors’ global compliance program. The role provides advisory support to leadership and business teams on compliance with international laws and regulations, including import/export controls, sanctions and embargoes, denied parties and vessels, anti-corruption, antitrust, and anti-boycott laws; manages regulatory matters, investigations, and relationships with outside counsel; partners with Internal Audit and Finance on risk assessments, monitoring, and remediation; serves as the in-house lead for government inquiries, audits, subpoenas, and investigations; develops and delivers targeted compliance policies, standards, procedures, and training; travel 5-15% and is on-site at the Bellevue, WA headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate or Bachelor of Laws
- Licensed/authorized to practice law and in good standing
- 7+ years of legal experience with significant responsibility for compliance, regulatory, or investigations matters
- Experience advising on international compliance matters, including anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, and regulatory investigations
- Experience in logistics, transport, and related sectors preferred
- Fluent English; additional languages a plus
