Senior Coordinator, Matchday Operations

Job Summary

Conduct Matchday Control for MLS regular season, playoffs, and marquee events by independently assessing and resolving operational issues within established protocols. Manage live-match escalations, coordinate resolution with Clubs and internal teams, and apply league policies to day-to-day operational issues. Identify matchday trends, operational risks, and recurring issues while recommending process improvements based on matchday observations. Develop and maintain Club-facing and internal Matchday Operations materials, including operational documentation, databases, reports, and presentations. Plan and execute assigned operational workstreams for MLS All-Star, MLS Cup, and Leagues Cup events, coordinating vendor agreements, payments, and contract administration. Prepare operational updates, analyses, and presentations for department leaders and executive audiences. Work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with up to 20% travel required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in event operations, sporting operations, competition operations, matchday operations, or a related field, preferably within the sports industry
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Clubs, internal departments, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to exercise sound judgment in fast-paced and time-sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage assigned projects and workstreams while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify operational trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Strong presentation and visual communication skills, including the ability to develop clear and effective materials for operational and executive audiences
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and commitment to quality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Smartsheet
  • Working knowledge of soccer and professional match operations
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including regularly scheduled evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the MLS season
  • Ability to work from the office as required to support matchday operations and league events
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting live sporting events, competition operations, or professional matchday environments
  • Experience working with event vendors, temporary staff, budgets, contracts, or operational logistics
  • Spanish-language proficiency
